Roanoke Code Camp is 13 Mar 2010!

Introduction

Even though the weather outside is frightful and despite the predictions of the ground hog, there are signs of Spring in southern Virginia. Our ornamental pear tree has small buds appearing on the branches, the birds are fidgety, and my friends in Roanoke are busy coordinating another Roanoke Code Camp!

A Cool Place

When I met my lovely bride Christy (Blog@ChristyLeonard), she lived in Roanoke. I moved to Roanoke to be closer to her and fell in love with the community. Surrounded by mountain ridges, the Star City is a medium-sized city comprised of small town folks. It has the amenities of a larger city without many big-city problems.

Roanoke Code Camp is held on the campus of Virginia Western Community College. While living in Roanoke, Christy and I attended classes there. We were married on the grounds of the Arboretum. VWCC has a special place in our hearts.

Cool People

Robin Edwards

Robin Edwards (Blog@wvhoki – 9Q), Joe Waldin, Will Ashley (@willashley), and crew put on a good event. They work hard, plan like crazy, and have the best turnout:registration ratio I’ve ever heard – something like 97% of Roanoke Code Camp registrants attend the event!

I’m sure registration is filling up fast with a little more than a month to go. If you’re interested in attending you should register today. If you do, I will see you there 13 Mar 2010!

To whet your appetite, here’s an entry from Christy’s blog about Roanoke Code Camp 2009 – enjoy!
