*I think* these cards are full blown 12-months MSDN subscriptions. The deal with the 6 months is that they have to be activated within 6 months from the date we received them.
btw, I am still trying to figure out what to do with mine, and stealing ideas from MVP friends is one of the options 🙂

I want to build a solution where I will gather stock exchange and financial information from the web via RSS, web scrapping to build what I called Financial Analytics DW using SQL R2 and then presented in a nice visualisation with silverlight and expression. And perhaps if I can present it on top of MOSS 2010 and probably combine it with BTS 2010.

Agreed with Rafael. The cards are good for full-year subscriptions, they just need to be activated within 180 days of receiving them.
I’d start working on business idea I’ve had to create a suite of tools and services to help develop for webbased telephony api services like twilio and tropo. It would include a server to interact with the apis and a visual tool that follows flowchart type design practice to build phone surveys and such.

Thanks for giving everyone the opportunity to have access to the great resource that is MSDN.
I would like to use the software to build open source tools including a custom connector/integrator from Microsoft Dynamics CRM to TFS. I had started to build it, changed jobs, and ended up at a place where I don’t have access to the MS CRM which I would regain with the MSDN license.
I am also thinking about writing some extensions to VS2010 for integration with "third party" ALM tools like JIRA and Confluence form Atlassian.
I am a newbie but I would like to make a searchable web database for my friend’s apple site. http://heirloomappletree.com/
I would like to be able to search by apple, by time of year, by state. I would if I had the time like to make little sets of trees for sale. I do not know how to do this but…it would suggest for your area an early, middle and late season apple.
P.S. Some of the best apples are the olden types. I recommend a Razor or Roxbury Russet. Visit your local heirloom orchard and try some this fall. Vintage Virginia is a great site for heirloom apples and has recently added hard cider.

First off I would work on testing and implementation of moving my "inherited problem" of a mirrored SQL to a clustered environment for automatic versus manual failover.
Secondly, since I work in government, I would like to investigate ways to provide a dataset to citizens where they could hook up their own applications (be it desktop or phone). Possible datasets could be geographic, water consumption, municipal code, etc.
I would like it to build healthcare applications, specifically patient trackerboards that are used in hospitals to track which rooms a patient is in, meds ordered, rn and md assigned. I would also like to use it to develop software for consignment shops in order for their customers to generate barcodes dynamically through an ASP.NET webpage.

I have been working on an open-source ASP.NET MVC2 blog engine, specifically one that would allow multiple authors and be easy to integrate into a corporate website. I had been using tools I obtained through DreamSpark while I was in school, but that license has expired and is not perpetual. I also could use the MSDN license to continue building SharePoint server images, which I use to lure innocent .NET developers to the Dark Side at Code Camps and such! 🙂

I would like to use Visual Studio 2010 MSDN Ultimate Subscription to build a secure server/file transfer/fetching/archiving/processing/reconciling/user worklist managing/cross-platform system (uncannily and quite coincidentally, exactly what is desperately needed at a company I know). It will help other people’s lives in several ways: filling a need that many companies are bound to have and for a low price; increasing the number of small software development businesses out there, etc etc.
If it helps, I’ll blog about the development and growth of my application and business too. By the way not be mentioned, i am a web-blogger too. I write-up reviews on various products which in-turn help other to decide what to choose and what not to choose.
I Hope i’ll be allowed to take participation in this wonderful giveaway.

I have a little site/blog I am working on and with a new job I am now going to be able to spend more time an effort researching, testing, hopefully presenting (if accepted at PASS and others) and ulitmately doing my best to give back to the community that has contributed to my success.

I would like to implement a generic field api for .NET similar to what is available in Drupal’s CCK projects. The idea is to implement a framework which provides concrete implementations of field types such as integer, phone number, date, referece and introduce the concept of a field collection which is a grouping of fields around a common identity. Some important components of this framework is validation, schema generation, runtime data model design.
The initial goal of the project is to create a runtime definable entity model for rapid prototyping. Long term goals are the addition of a model management ui, and the ability to realize a given model by generating code to create a concrete implementation of a model.
I’ve worked extensively with this type of technology within the scope of Drupal. I’ve been developing for .NET the last two years and would like a similar toolset for my .NET development.

I would use this package to build improved interfaces between Office apps and SQL Server, hoping to eliminate some of the hand work involved in setting things up, so that the end user could generate their own reports in, say, Excel, without having to know DSN and etc. This is currently what I spend quite a bit of time doing for management, having an app that could handle it would free me up for what I consider more important work, training myself in SQL Server BI and DBA duties.
It might sound lame, but I am a relative n00b myself, and don’t know the possibilities. I guess the biggest thing I would do with this package is learn from it, with the hopes that I can then pass on that knowledge to the community.

The project the Visual Studio 2010 MSDN Ultimate Subscription would be used to develop involves developing a multi-faceted Windows application. It is designed to provide small companies which cannot afford the personnel to maintain SQL, BizTalk, SharePoint and other such tools the ability to simplify their file processing and customer service.
I’ve worked in the direct mail, telemarketing, and wealth management industries and have found a need for a set of tools to assist with client management, billing and file processing. A smart client application will be used for the front end setup and maintenance of the supporting services which will use SQL Server as a backend. Multi-threaded Windows services will be designed to handle file receipt, file transformation, and file delivery and reporting using SSIS, Reporting Services and SharePoint.
I’ve been developing this project with Visual Studio 2005. The Ultimate subscription would provide me the final tools needed to complete the project.
