Two Weeks Until SQLBits 9!

Introduction

I can hardly believe SQLBits 9 is in two weeks! Christy and I are excited to make our first trip to the United Kingdom!

Two Sessions

It’s always an honor to present; I am doubly honored to present two sessions at SQLBits 9:

• A Day of SSIS – Thursday, 29 Sep 2011 – I believe there’s a limit and it is filling up fast!
  A Day of SSIS was developed by Andy Leonard to train technology professionals in the fine art of using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to build data integration and Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) solutions. The training is focused around lectures and emphasizes a practical approach.

  Target Audience
  The target audience for this training is database professionals, application developers, and business intelligence practitioners interested in acquiring or expanding their existing SSIS skill set.

  Prerequisites
  No experience with SQL Server or SQL Server Integration Services is required before attending this training. It is helpful (but not required) that students possess some knowledge of and experience with relational databases. SQL Server knowledge / experience will be more helpful than experience and knowledge with other technologies.

  Training Objectives
  At the conclusion of the training, attendees will have been exposed to:

Using SSIS to develop data integration solutions.
Using SSIS to load a database table.
Troubleshooting real-world SSIS Data Flow Task errors.
Deploying SSIS Solutions.
Managing, monitoring, and administering SSIS in the enterprise.

• Designing an SSIS Framework – Saturday, 1 Oct 2011
  In this “demo-tastic” presentation, SSIS trainer, author, and consultant Andy Leonard explains the what, why, and how of an SSIS framework that delivers metadata-driven package execution, connections management, and centralizes logging. Key takeaways:
  1) Developers can migrate packages from Development, through their lifecycle, to Production without editing SSIS Connection Managers properties.
  2) A metadata-driven approach to SSIS package execution.
  3) Demonstration of a centralized logging reporting application.
