I was sad to read the announcement of the retirement of the Microsoft Professional Program, I’m still sad about it because it was a good program.

Not the First Time…
When it comes to advanced Microsoft certificate programs, Microsoft is currently 0 for 2.
The Microsoft Certified Master (MCM) program initially required three weeks of classroom instruction and exams that concluded in an hours-long lab exercise. Microsoft Professional Program certifications required several courses (usually 8 to 11 courses), each followed by a certification exam, and capped by a capstone project to demonstrate competence in the subject area.
Lifelong learners are now being redirected to Microsoft Learn.
I Have a Question:
How long is Microsoft Learn going to remain in operation?
Will Microsoft Learning be killed in a few years? After people have invested time and money in acquiring the certifications?
I can hear some of you thinking, “Andy, you sound upset.”
I promise, I am not upset.
I am very, very disappointed. (One “very” for each time this has happened.)
In the original Star Trek series, Mr. Scott famously said, “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.” I don’t want to be disappointed… again.
