SQLInspire NYC 2011 is 11.12.11!

In just under three short weeks, a first-of-its-kind event will take place at the Microsoft headquarters in New York City: SQLInspire NYC 2011! This second SQLPeople event is not a training event, although I expect attendees will learn a great deal. The goal of this event is found in the name – we aim to inspire you.

“Why?”

That is an excellent and fair question. We have nothing against education – in fact, we love education and educational events! There are a lot of really awesome educational events out there and you know their names. We want to do something different. And we believe inspiration is just as important as technical know-how. In many cases, inspiration is more important. “Why, Andy?” Because you can – and will – learn what you need to do if you’re inspired to accomplish something.

We Are Geeks

Geeks are good at learning new stuff. We even enjoy learning new stuff! Learning new stuff is not a problem for geeks. We geeks ask questions like:

  • “What will my job look like in the future?”
  • “What will the job market look like in the future?”
  • “Is it possible to move from Data Professional to CEO?”
  • “Are there different ways to approach Professional Services?
  • “How can I better balance work and life?”
  • “How will Big Data and Business Intelligence impact my career?”

We have presentations for that! And more!

Thomas LaRock (Blog | @SQLRockstar | SQLPeople), Robert Pearl (Blog | @PearlKnows), and Michael Coles (Blog | @Sergent_SQL | SQLPeople) will present “SQL Someday”, “Telecommuting and the Virtual Office: Making the Case to Convince Your Boss”, and “Navigating the New Job Market”, respectively. Steve Jones (Blog | @way0utwest | SQLPeople) will present on “Finding Balance”, Michael Corey (Blog | @michael_corey) will outline his journey from “DBA to CEO”, Brian Moran (Blog | @briancmoran) will present L.E.A.P. concepts in “Professional Services 2.0”, and Andrew Brust (Blog | @andrewbrust) will share his thoughts on the confluence of Big Data and Business Intelligence in “Big Data, BI, Big Deal!”

If you do not know these people or have never heard them speak, this is your opportunity! These Visionaries were invited to present from the heart; we asked them to “present about what excites you today”. I am so looking forward to their responses to this request. I know you will enjoy them as well.

Join us Saturday 11-12-11 for SQLInspire NYC 2011!
