Joel Spolsky Retires From Blogging in 3 Days

No it’s not 1 Apr. Joel Spolsky (Blog@spolsky) announced recently he is retiring from blogging 17 Mar 2010.

Reading Joel on Software always makes me think. Mr. Spolsky pioneered a writing style. Along the way he empowered developers, encouraging them to speak up about the manifold misconceptions of our trade.

I will miss Mr. Spolsky’s writings. I wish him well in all his endeavors.

  1. Not convinced that Spolsky pioneered anything. He used to be interesting but as his readership (and ego) grey he became less so. Recently in podcasts I have found the man to be arrogant and belittling of people who are less far down the path than he. I won’t miss him because I missed the good parts that disappeared a year or two ago.

  2. Wow, I’ll miss him as well, but to be honest, it appears that he’s moved away from his thoughtful essay style in the last few years. Shorter posts and a rare essay that he put out as business seemed to suck him in.
