I am honored to announce I will be delivering From Zero To SSIS! in London, England 5-9 Mar 2012. This course is delivered in cooperation with my friends at TechniTrain who provide awesome training by talented technologists like Chris Webb (Blog), Gavin Payne (Blog), and Christian Bolton (Blog).
This opportunity grew out of conversations at SQLBits 9 in Liverpool in September 2011. I had an awesome time at SQLBits and encourage everyone to attend the conference if you have the opportunity to do so. SQLBits 10 is 29-31 Mar 2012.

I spent a year writing From Zero To SSIS. The material grew out of my experience serving as a consultant on short-term engagements and as a manager of a team of forty data integration developers building concurrent, long-term projects in a global enterprise; serving as a data integration developer and enterprise ETL architect. The information is practical and actionable. I share my mistakes and pain points, hoping students will learn as much from my errors as I did. It is a hands-on course because I believe nothing reinforces hearing like doing. The course is not a survey of all the functionality included in SSIS. Instead, it focuses a proportionate amount of time (and laboratory exercises) on the components of SSIS the data integration developer will use.
This delivery of the course is sub-divided into Introductory and Advanced sections. One can opt to attend either section or both. The course focuses on data integration development topics in the Introductory section. Data integration topics include a lot of material about the SSIS Data Flow Task (Why? Because SSIS was built to move data.). The Introductory section also covers Control Flow topics including work flow, Containers, Precedence Constraints, and Loop Containers. The Advanced section covers the topics of Advanced Data Cleansing, Security, Deployment, Execution, Logging, Configurations, SSIS Design Patterns, and ETL Frameworks.
