People often ask me, “Andy, where can I learn SSIS or learn more about it?” Well, you’re at one such location – my blog! I’ve been blogging about SSIS for about 10 years as I type this. There’s a lot posts here about SSIS – that’s the good news. The bad news is: There’s a lot of posts here about SSIS.
Some other places you can learn about SSIS from me:
- The Stairway to Integration Services at SQL Server Central
- IESSIS1 – Learning SSIS delivered in cooperation with SQLSkills. The next delivery is 7-11 May 2018.
- Expert SSIS delivered in cooperation with Brent Ozar Unlimited. The next deliveries are 18-20 Jun 2018 and 10-12 Sep 2018.
- SQL Saturday Richmond – I’m presenting 24 Mar 2018 and delivering a day of SSIS, Biml, and DILM training titled Intelligent Data Integration 23 Mar 2018.
- SQL Saturday Raleigh – I am presenting Faster SSIS.
- SQL Saturday NYC – presenting a full-day precon titled Intelligent Data Integration 18 May 2018 and speaking 19 May 2018.
I hope to see you at one of these events. If you read this blog, come up and introduce yourself. I’m the fat guy with a braided beard!

Nice, thanks for this. Just hired 2 junior BI devs so I’ll use the stairway to help them get up to speed.
Love Sql Saturdays. We don’t get much on SSIS very often in my local one.
I hope you add your slides.
You may find my SSIS dashboard useful.

I’m just starting to revamp the look and useabilty with bookmarks
Hi Phil,
Which SQL Saturday is local for you?
My slides are useless. They serve as reminders for me to now begin sharing about a particular topic.
I saw your Power BI dashboard earlier and it looks awesome! Please let me know when you update it.
My Power BI dashboard for the SSIS Catalog (https://dilmsuite.com/basic-ssis-catalog-dashboard-in-power-bi/) is very basic, intentionally.

OK will do. Let me know if you spot any issues with it or think I can improve it any. It works well for me especially now I schedule it on PBI Report Server. I have few projects and about 300 packages, not sure if it works with more complex setups. Especially good at looking at errors and see which packages/steps are slow.
We use Jamie T’s prefix’s so I’m thinking of adding these categories and any where we’ve not named correctly. Also probably going to have the details of project and package parameters.
I’m in Manchester, UK. I’ve not checked what in this years event. I think it’s around July.
